Chateau Konopiště near Benešov town was František Ferdinand d’Este's last residence - he was a successor to the Austria-Hungary throne. He bought it from the Lobkowicz House and he had it reconstructed in neo-gothic style. He lived here with his beloved wife, the Czech aristocrat Žofie Chotková, who died with her husband as a result of the Sarajevo assassination. This act was one of the causes of World War I. Further, you can find the famous bear run and an extensive hunting trophy collection. The Chateau is also popular thanks to its golf course, as well as a beautiful venue for weddings.
