St Vitus Cathedral is the most important Prague temple. Coronation of Czech kings and queens took place there and relicts of saints, kings, archbichops, important aristocrates are also found there. Unfortunately the Czech coronation jewels are not publicly displayed. Originally a rotunda stood in this place, than a basilica and later Charles IV. iniciated the building of the cathedral. The final neogothic appearance was given to the cathedral 600 years later, at the beginning of the 20th century. The most significant place in the cathedral is Saint Wenceslas Chapel, where relicts of this patron of the Czech lands are placed.
